I got a pleasant surprise this week to find out that I was nominated for a Plutus Award for “Best Investing Blog.” (I’m new to this, but my best explanation is that the Plutus Awards are akin to the People’s Choice Awards, for personal finance blogs.)
If you want to vote for me or any of your other favorite PF blogs, here’s the page where you would do so.
The other 4 nominees in the category (ABCs of Investing, Amateur Asset Allocator, Darwin’s Finance, and Good Financial Cents) are blogs I quite like, so I won’t hold it against you if you vote for any of them instead.
And now the regularly scheduled roundup:
Investing Articles
- Using Your HSA as a Retirement Investment Vehicle from Five Cent Nickel
- A Little-Known Social Security Spousal Benefit Option from Financial Ducks in a Row
- Should You Save First for Retirement or Down Payment on a House? from Money Under 30
Other Money-Related Articles
- Money Without Matrimony from Get Rich Slowly
- How Do I Teach My Child about Money? from MoneyNing
- What to Bring to Your Tax Accountant from Good Financial Cents

I already voted for you! I was happy to see you in that category. In my book, you’re the hands-d0wn favorite to win. Keep up the great work, Mike!!!
Thanks for the vote and the compliment.
Though if subscriber count is any indication, Good Financial Cents is gonna be tough to beat!
Eh, I see what you mean, but I still hope you win. When it comes to good, straightforward investment advice that keeps it to what people really need to know, you easily top Jeff. Plus, your writing style is cleaner and clearer than his. I guess that’s not what we’re voting on, but it counts for something to me.
Congratulations on the nomination, Mike – very well deserved! You’ve got my vote! (and thanks for the link!)

Thanks, and you bet.
I really enjoy the fact that you tackle important retirement planning topics that are often overlooked by other personal finance blogs.
