Some personal finance topics can be tricky (when to claim Social Security, whether or not to annuitize your portfolio, etc.). But most of personal finance really isn’t too complicated.
Personal finance blogger Len Penzo has an ongoing series — “100 Words On…” — in which he makes that simplicity abundantly clear. Naturally, it’s hard to provide any earth-shattering revelations in just 100 words. But I quite enjoy Len’s series nonetheless. It’s personal finance at its most basic level — things that should be common sense. Things like:
- The Importance of Having a Financial Back-up Plan
- Why a Penny Saved is More Than a Penny Earned
- Why Financial Freedom Requires Very Little Money
- The Importance of Tracking Your Expenses
- Why Do-It-Yourself Doesn’t Always Pay Off

Hi. I'm Mike Piper, the author of this blog. I'm a CPA and the author of several personal finance books. The point of this blog is to show that investing doesn't have to be complicated.

Thanks for the mention, Mike! I think most people would do ok if they followed the most basic personal finance advice of spending less than you earn.
Have a great weekend!
Hey Mike – Thanks for the mention!
I also follow Len Penzo. I like his 100 word series. Sometimes it doesn’t take many words to make a point.
Thanks, Mike, for the very nice testimonial on my “100 Words On” series — and all those links too!
As I told you at Fincon last week, I think it is YOU who is truly gifted in taking complex things like investing and making them very digestible and easy to understand for people like me. I know I certainly appreciate it — as do a lot of other folks as evidenced by your very large following!
Thanks again — and it was a real pleasure meeting you last week.
