Guest Post Policy

If you’re interested in writing a guest post for Oblivious Investor, you can email it to me at mike@obliviousinvestor.com.

Please be warned, however, that I’m a curmudgeonly old man when it comes to accepting guest posts, and I flat out refuse many of them. That said, following these guidelines will help your chances:

First, the post must be about investing or tax planning. Careers, frugality, and paying off debt are certainly important to one’s financial well-being. But they are not the topic of this particular blog.

Second, I’m not interested in reporting on what the markets are doing right now. I’m looking for articles that will be just as useful to readers in two years as they are today.

Third, if your post suggests some way to earn above-market returns, please be sure to answer the following questions:

  1. How has the strategy performed in the past?
  2. Why has it performed so well in the past?
  3. Why should we continue to expect it to work in the future, even if it becomes well known?

Fourth, no affiliate links, or links to articles that are primarily intended to promote affiliate offers.

Fifth, 400-600 words is roughly what I’m looking for — though that’s just a guideline, not a hard and fast rule.

Finally, it’s obviously not a huge deal, but it’s easiest for me if you submit the post as a .txt file in html rather than a Word document.
